Description

A cheesy, savory melt featuring tender broccoli and a gooey cheese sauce, all toasted on a crispy slice of bread for a comforting bite.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets, steamed
  • 4 slices of bread (preferably sourdough or whole grain)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine steamed broccoli, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Spread the broccoli mixture evenly on each slice of bread, then sprinkle dried oregano over the top if using.
  4. Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet and drizzle or brush with olive oil or butter.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Alternatively, toast in a skillet over medium heat, flipping carefully to toast both sides and melt the cheese.
  6. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • This melt is delicious on any type of bread, but sourdough or multigrain adds extra flavor.
  • For a bit of spice, add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the broccoli mixture.
  • Can be served as a snack or a light lunch with a side salad.
