Description
Bread in 20 Minutes is a quick and easy recipe that allows you to enjoy freshly baked, soft bread in no time. With minimal ingredients and a short preparation time, this bread is perfect for those moments when you want homemade bread without the long wait.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
- 3/4 cup milk (or water)
- 1 egg (for brushing the top, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and lightly grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Make a well in the center and add the olive oil (or melted butter) and milk (or water). Stir until a dough forms, then knead the dough for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a round loaf or flatten it into a disk for a rustic bread.
- If desired, lightly beat the egg and brush it over the top of the dough for a golden finish.
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- This recipe works best with all-purpose flour. For a denser loaf, you can try using whole wheat flour or a combination of both.
- If you prefer a softer crust, cover the bread with a clean towel as it cools.
- This bread is best enjoyed fresh, but it can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
