Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
