- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for Chantilly cream)
- 2 cups mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with flour, mixing until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the Chantilly cream, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- To assemble, place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of Chantilly cream, and scatter fresh berries.
- Top with second cake layer, frost the top and sides with remaining Chantilly cream, and decorate with more fresh berries.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

- Use fresh, ripe berries for best flavor.
- Chill the mixing bowl and beaters before whipping cream for easier peaks.
- For extra flavor, brush cake layers with berry syrup or liqueur before assembling.
