Description

A cozy, comforting pasta dish featuring wide ribbons of tagliatelle coated in a rich, beefy tomato sauce, topped with fresh basil and parmesan.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces tagliatelle pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Handful fresh basil leaves, torn
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Mix in tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Meanwhile, cook tagliatelle in a pot of salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  7. Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce. Add reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
  8. Stir in fresh basil and most of the parmesan cheese.
  9. Serve hot, topped with remaining parmesan and extra basil if desired.

Notes

  • Use high-quality tomatoes for a sweeter, more balanced sauce.
  • Add a pinch of chili flakes for a bit of heat.
  • The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
