A cozy, comforting pasta dish featuring wide ribbons of tagliatelle coated in a rich, beefy tomato sauce, topped with fresh basil and parmesan.

- 12 ounces tagliatelle pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Handful fresh basil leaves, torn
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Mix in tomato paste, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook tagliatelle in a pot of salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
- Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce. Add reserved pasta water as needed for consistency.
- Stir in fresh basil and most of the parmesan cheese.
- Serve hot, topped with remaining parmesan and extra basil if desired.
Notes
- Use high-quality tomatoes for a sweeter, more balanced sauce.
- Add a pinch of chili flakes for a bit of heat.
- The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days.
