Basil Pesto Bread Rounds are an easy and delicious appetizer made by spreading homemade or store-bought basil pesto on toasted bread rounds. The perfect combination of aromatic basil, garlic, and cheese, they’re perfect for any occasion.

- 1 baguette or French bread, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon pine nuts (optional, for garnish)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on the baking sheet. Brush each slice with olive oil on both sides.
- Bake the bread slices in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and allow the bread rounds to cool slightly.
- Spread a generous amount of basil pesto on each bread round.
- Top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of pine nuts, if using.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a twist, you can add a slice of tomato or mozzarella before serving.
- If you don’t have pine nuts, you can substitute them with chopped walnuts or skip them altogether.
- Homemade pesto adds an extra burst of flavor if you have time to make it from scratch.
