Description

Soft, golden-brown pretzels with a slightly crisp exterior and fluffy interior, perfect for snacking or serving with dips

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour: 4 cups
  • Active Dry Yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • Warm Water: 1 1/2 cups
  • Granulated Sugar: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Baking Soda: 2/3 cup
  • Coarse Sea Salt: for topping
  • Unsalted Butter: 2 tablespoons, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper
  2. Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy
  3. Stir in salt and flour gradually to form dough
  4. Divide dough into 8 pieces, roll into ropes, and twist into pretzel shapes
  5. Bring a large pot of water with baking soda to a gentle simmer and boil pretzels for 30 seconds each
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon, place on baking sheets, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle coarse sea salt on top
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown, then cool slightly on a wire rack

Notes

  • Use warm water, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast
  • Brush with egg wash for extra shine
  • Store baked pretzels in an airtight container or freeze for longer storage
