Description

Tender balsamic-marinated flank steak is grilled to perfection and topped with fresh mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, and fragrant basil for a mouthwatering Caprese twist.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place flank steak in a shallow dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably 4 hours.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Remove steak from marinade and discard the marinade.
  4. Grill steak for 4–6 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Slice steak thinly against the grain and arrange on a platter.
  6. Top steak slices with mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil leaves.
  7. Drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of Italian seasoning to the marinade.
  • Use heirloom tomatoes for a colorful presentation.
  • Letting the steak rest before slicing ensures juiciness.
