Description
The Baked Pretzel Loaf Sandwich is a hearty and savory sandwich made with chewy, golden-brown pretzel bread, layered with flavorful meats, cheeses, and condiments. It’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or game day gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large pretzel loaf or 2 small pretzel sandwich rolls
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (or preferred spread)
- 4 oz sliced deli meat (ham, turkey, or roast beef)
- 2–3 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sautéed onions or caramelized onions (optional)
- 1/2 cup baby spinach or arugula
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise or aioli (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter (for brushing)
- 1/4 tsp coarse salt (for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice pretzel loaf horizontally and lightly toast both halves in the oven or toaster for 3–5 minutes if desired.
- Spread Dijon mustard (and mayo if using) on the bottom half of the loaf.
- Layer with sliced deli meat, cheese, onions, and greens.
- Place the top half of the pretzel loaf over the fillings to close the sandwich.
- Brush the top of the loaf lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with a pinch of coarse salt for that classic pretzel finish.
- Wrap the sandwich loosely in foil and bake for 10–12 minutes, until heated through and cheese is melted.
- Remove from oven, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Customize with your favorite meats, cheeses, and spreads.
- For a vegetarian version, use grilled vegetables and omit the meat.
- Great for make-ahead meals—just reheat before serving.
- Use homemade or store-bought pretzel bread depending on availability.
