Description

The Baked Pretzel Loaf Sandwich is a hearty and savory sandwich made with chewy, golden-brown pretzel bread, layered with flavorful meats, cheeses, and condiments. It’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or game day gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 large pretzel loaf or 2 small pretzel sandwich rolls
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (or preferred spread)
  • 4 oz sliced deli meat (ham, turkey, or roast beef)
  • 23 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sautéed onions or caramelized onions (optional)
  • 1/2 cup baby spinach or arugula
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise or aioli (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for brushing)
  • 1/4 tsp coarse salt (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice pretzel loaf horizontally and lightly toast both halves in the oven or toaster for 3–5 minutes if desired.
  3. Spread Dijon mustard (and mayo if using) on the bottom half of the loaf.
  4. Layer with sliced deli meat, cheese, onions, and greens.
  5. Place the top half of the pretzel loaf over the fillings to close the sandwich.
  6. Brush the top of the loaf lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with a pinch of coarse salt for that classic pretzel finish.
  7. Wrap the sandwich loosely in foil and bake for 10–12 minutes, until heated through and cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from oven, slice, and serve warm.
