Description

Apple Pie Filling Cinnamon Rolls are a cozy twist on the classic cinnamon roll — fluffy rolls swirled with cinnamon sugar, topped with warm apple pie filling, and finished with a drizzle of sweet icing. Perfect for a weekend brunch, holiday breakfast, or anytime you’re craving a comforting treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Rolls:

  • 56 large homemade cinnamon rolls or store-bought cinnamon rolls
  • 1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling

Apple Topping (Optional):

  • 1 medium apple, cubed
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Icing (or use icing from cinnamon rolls can):

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk or water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to cinnamon roll package instructions or recipe directions if using homemade rolls.
  2. Place cinnamon rolls in a baking dish. Spoon the apple pie filling evenly over the top of the rolls.
  3. If making the optional apple topping: In a small pan, sauté cubed apple with lemon juice, butter, and brown sugar over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until softened and caramelized. Spoon over the rolls.
  4. Bake rolls as directed, until golden and cooked through.
  5. While rolls bake, prepare icing: whisk together melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, and milk (or water) until smooth.
  6. Drizzle icing over warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg into the apple topping.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat before serving.
  • You can substitute homemade apple pie filling for canned if you prefer.
