- 5–6 large homemade cinnamon rolls or store-bought cinnamon rolls
- 1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling
Apple Topping (Optional):
- 1 medium apple, cubed
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

Instructions
- Preheat oven according to cinnamon roll package instructions or recipe directions if using homemade rolls.
- Place cinnamon rolls in a baking dish. Spoon the apple pie filling evenly over the top of the rolls.
- If making the optional apple topping: In a small pan, sauté cubed apple with lemon juice, butter, and brown sugar over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until softened and caramelized. Spoon over the rolls.
- Bake rolls as directed, until golden and cooked through.
- While rolls bake, prepare icing: whisk together melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, and milk (or water) until smooth.
- Drizzle icing over warm cinnamon rolls and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg into the apple topping.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat before serving.
- You can substitute homemade apple pie filling for canned if you prefer.
