This Apple Crumble Pie features tender, spiced apples tucked into a flaky crust and topped with a golden, buttery brown sugar crumble. It’s comforting, nostalgic, and absolutely irresistible.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups peeled and sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for filling)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drips.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well until apples are evenly coated.
- Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish, gently pressing it into place and crimping the edges.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared crust and spread evenly.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the crumble topping by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, and cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture generously over the apples.
- Bake the pie for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let it cool for at least 2 hours to allow the filling to set.
- Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
- Chill the crumble topping before adding for extra crunch.
- Tent with foil during baking if the topping browns too quickly.
- Use a mix of apple varieties for more depth of flavor.
