Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)
- Extra orange zest (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice. Mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Use a cookie scoop to form dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are just set. Let cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.
- Once cookies are completely cooled, drizzle or dip them in the glaze and sprinkle with extra zest.
- Let the glaze set before serving or storing.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes to reduce spreading.
- Zest citrus directly over the bowl to capture oils.
- Let cookies cool fully before glazing to ensure glaze sets properly.
