Description

A simple Italian dessert made with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a hot shot of espresso poured right over the top. It is creamy, bold, sweet, and slightly bitter in the best way.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1 shot fresh espresso, about 30 ml
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 1 fresh shot of espresso so it is hot and aromatic.
  2. Place 2 large scoops of vanilla ice cream in a small chilled dessert glass or cup.
  3. Slowly pour the hot espresso over the ice cream.
  4. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon granulated sugar if you want a sweeter finish.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy while the ice cream is creamy and just starting to melt.

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the richest flavor.
  • High quality vanilla ice cream gives the smoothest texture.
  • Serve right away for the best hot and cold contrast.
  • Vanilla gelato can be used instead of ice cream for a more traditional feel.
